Board of Selectmen · Meeting of April 6, 2026

Holden selectmen set the wording of a $5.5 million override question for the May 11 election. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously on one combined question covering the town budget and the regional school district assessment. Finance Committee Chair Paul Challenger had recommended $4.9 million, warning that without an override the library would drop from 54 to 32 weekly hours and the senior center to 20, with three police officers cut.

Members added about $500,000 for moving offices out of the Starboard building. The board also voted 4-1 to extend Town Manager Peter Lukes' contract to April 1, 2029, with no added pay. Lukes reported a $10 million first installment from Worcester on a $35.5 million sewer judgment.
